3D Beads

I studied 3D digital animation at Glasgow School of Art after my degree. I still use 3D software to make flat graphics. I was sick for a time a couple of years ago and I had some time to play around. I was looking for something where I could use the patterns I had made using PowerPoint but would work for interiors and wallpapers. My giant gem stones that I was using to make the girls skate brand felt a bit too pop/kitsch (or “Bridge and Tunnel” as one NYC friend called it). I wanted something that looked a bit more antique, that Liberty London might stock.

I stumbled across a way to create 3D “beads.” I’m calling these “tassays.” (A “tassie” is a flat bottomed tumbler which I think of as a whiskey tumbler or the gem stone you sometimes find on the end of an expensive fountain pen).

I’m excited about these as they work at a very small scale and a very large scale.

Concepts for advertising

Concept for street art

This is a still for an animation I created for Domestika. It’s an advert for silk scarves. I liked the idea of “Towel Day” from Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I came up with dozens of uses for a silk scarf. I animated this in PowerPoint.

I worked for a while at City of London School for Girls doing their marketing and fundraising when I first moved to London and the illustrations are based on these girls - adventurous, brave, thoughtful and always very stylish!

You can see the animation here.
