GOOGLE / HOT CHIP

This project was an exclusive party at Printworks in Docklands. The theme was "Cosmic Circus". Hot Chip played.

In my spare time I create a lot of esoteric illustration using a wide variety of techniques including photography and 3D software.

I created the typeface which was used for branding the event. This was based on Galdrastafir (ancient Icelandic magic symbols) and Icelandic magical staves (sigils).  I had created this previously for
a personal project.

The alien typeface was based on shapes found in commedia dell'arte.

The psychedelic spaceships were made using textile designs I normally use for creating silk scarves.

Hit play!

The production team created a light frame for Hot Chip to play under.

Alien Font

Alien font created using references from traditional circuses (dots, diamonds and pulleys/wheels) and Thai and Pagan/magical alphabets. They don’t actually mean anything.

The Cosmic Circus logo references magical alphabets, runes and platonic solids. I used a typeface I created for the Wilding Festival.

Banners I created for the Emily Wilding Davison Festival. I used a typeface I created myself and used 3D objects decorated with kaleidoscopic patterns.

Invitation design

We saw some lollipops that were designed like planets so we designed the invitation around these.

Banners

Banner designs based on old album artwork like New Order and Joy Division and platonic solids.

Idea development

I spent a lot of time at Pollocks Toy Museum which has a lot of vintage circus toys. I love Giffords Circus

I saw Jim Rose and Archaos several times as a teenager. I wanted to run away with Archaos!
